How to fix a win7 network that is stuck on "public network" |

(this may not work for everyone, but it worked for us) Open a dos box, and type: secpol.msc ... then go to: Network List Manager Policies >> User can change name, (double click) Unidentified Networks and Identifying Networks, Next, (remove the static IPs) control panel >> network and sharing center >> Finally, within the "network and sharing center" >> "view your active networks", Set it to: Work Network, and back out. Reboot. (now, possibly, reset the static IPs) The above is based on the solution found here.
